One Year On – Legacy Digital Building Heritage

Pembroke Banner #3

It’s gratifying to know that work we did under AHRC funded Digital Building Heritage Phase 2 project (Grant Ref AH-K007610-1) last year is still being actively used by our Community Heritage Partners and others. A good example is a recent presentation by Dr. Stephen Hughes, Director of Projects & Fundraising at the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Wales (RCAHMW) who recently used our digital reconstruction of Pembroke Historic Dockyard in Wales in a public presentation on the history of the Dockyard to the Aberystwyth Group of the Ramblers Association at the Park Hotel Tenby on Saturday 11th October. Dr. Hughes said “it was an excellent way of showing how Pembroke Dockyard once looked…they [the audience] were bowled over.” There will be further presentations of this particular reconstruction by Dr. Hughes in 2015. This is exactly the kind of long term outcome we hoped for from our work on this and other AHRC funded projects that we have conducted. Over the course of the next few months we will be re-visiting other Community heritage Groups that we worked with last year to see how they are getting along with the digital reconstructions we produced for them.
